Kathleen Coulombe serves as the Vice President, Retirement Security & Principal Deputy, Federal Relations, for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). In this capacity, she is actively involved in retirement security public policy issues on Capitol Hill that impact the life insurance industry. Prior to working in this capacity, Kathleen served as a Senior Advisor of Government Relations for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), where she managed their tax, retirement and benefits portfolio on the federal level. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Kathleen accepted a position in the Las Vegas Office of Nevada Governor Kenny C. Guinn. As Deputy Director of Constituent Services and the Las Vegas Assistant to the Governor, Kathleen worked with law makers and other stakeholders on a wide variety of state issues. In 2004, Kathleen moved to Washington, DC when she accepted a position with the Department of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Systems. Realizing her love and interest in public policy issues, Kathleen joined SHRM in May of 2005. Kathleen received her Master of Public Policy from the George Washington University where she was a Scottish Rite Fellow. She serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including as Treasurer for Women in Government Relations and the Tax Coalition. Kathleen was born in Munich, Germany, while her father served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed abroad and has lived all over the U.S. and in Canada. Kathleen currently lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and four children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, travel, yoga, fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphomas Society’s Team in Training Program and is the President of the Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School PTA.
